CAMPECHE RESTAURANT
TImeLIne
Campeche Restaurant has been proudly serving authentic Mexican cuisine since the late 1970s.
The name “Campeche” pays tribute to the beautiful city of Campeche, Mexico, located along the Gulf of Mexico—and the hometown of our beloved grandmother, the original founder of Campeche Restaurant. Inspired by her roots, she chose to name the restaurant after Campeche because many of our cherished family recipes originated there.
For three generations, our family has continued her culinary tradition, serving time-honored favorites such as our famous homemade margaritas and fresh salsas.
What began in 1978 in the Chicagoland area has remained a family-owned tradition ever since. After many years of serving the Chicago community, we relocated our business 150 miles west to the historic town of Galena—a place rich in history and deeply cherished by our grandmother.
Today, Campeche Restaurant is proud to welcome guests to our newest location in beautiful downtown Galena, Illinois. We invite you to join us and experience the authentic flavors and warm family tradition that have made Campeche a beloved destination for generations.
